Sunday was the 8 week birthday for our two Puppies Peggy & Gem
Peggy left for her new home on Monday with Katie Cannon, we wish her all the best and look forward to following her progress as a sheep dog,
Gem is staying at Ballakelly, to hopefully be trained to be Tinky’s very own sheepdog. Her special purple whistle arrived last week and she is hoping to purchase a crook from the agricultural show on the 9th & 10th August, so watch this space as we follow their progress.
I will introduce you to my 3 sheep dogs:
Rooten, Brook & Quinn
Quinn
Quinn is the kind of sheepdog that you see on a mug! We tease him that he is the privately educated sheep dog of our pack. He is very polite and never swears at the sheep. I only got him a few months ago so I am really enjoying building up a relationship with him.
Hiraethog Jill
– I love this little b**ch! She reminds me of my original dog Bridie. For those of you who know about me and my dog you will know that I love the red and white ones. Jill was my Christmas present last year from Alice. I was dragged to Wales to try her out and it was love at first sight. Sion C Jones and his family are doing a brilliant job with their dog, thanks Eleri for pushing me in their direction.
Unfortunately, Jill was hit by a car when bringing the sheep in for lambing. This meant she was out of action for months, but instead she had those 2 lovely puppies above. Now she is fully healed and ready for light work, and most of all to teach her daughter the ropes.
Jill is a very quick and accurate dog, but sometimes is not big enough to move big volumes of sheep, for this job we send in the cannon fodder……
Ace
No videos as they are X-Rated!!
On a serious note Ace, bearded collie cross merle, very handsome, very strong is awesome at pushing the sheep on, he comes into his own in the pens and on the roads.
I crossed Ace with Jill to give the puppies above, I decided to keep Gem as she like her dad has a strong build, so let’s cross our paws that her brain is like her mum!!
All this talk about sheep dogs has made me want to go and get them out!!
Please could I ask you to post up photos of any of the Ballakelly dogs that are out there as we would love to create a gallery.
