Hello Ballakelly Bloggers, sorry I have been out of ‘blogging action’ for 2 weeks, TT Week was hot hot hot, we served lots of lovely people our yummy food, but am glad to be back on the farm ‘making hay while the sun shines’.
The last few weeks the grandstand was not the only busy place. At home on the farm we cut all our silage (Definition: grass or other green fodder compacted and stored in airtight conditions, typically in a silo, without first being dried, and used as animal feed in the winter.) ready for the winter.
I have bought some new harrows for the teenaged boys to put behind tractors.
(Definition: Chainharrowing can be used on pasture land to spread out dung, and to break up dead material (thatch) in the sward, and similarly in sports-ground maintenance a light chainharrowing is often usedto level off the ground after heavy use, to remove and smooth out boot marks and indentations.)
Geoff & Layton have been saying they were going to make little square bales this year, old school, and they have!!!! Rachel will be after those for the ponies 😊
The weather has been great but now we need rain again! So all rain dances welcome, if you video and post up on FB there is a free pack of sausages.
As you can see on FB we have painted Ballasteen, so make sure you have your sun glasses on when driving past.
The Meat Heros have been practicing for the Viking Long boats, we have a boys team and a mixed team, I don’t run a big corporation here but ‘team’ building exercises are great glue to keep your helpers happy.
It is nearly time to sign off but I can’t finish without mentioning ‘father’s day’, true to form Tinky has given us our words of wisdom, when she came down for breakfast, she entered the room:
‘Shoot – I forgot your card at school Dad, I have not got you a present, but my presence should be enough, let’s have a Daddy Day!!!’
While eating my crunchy nuts, I hit google to see what makes a good dad, https://goodmenproject.com/fathers-day/100-ways-to-be-a-good-father/
Look what it had as number 1!!!

Both Rachel and I have lost our fathers, so today we try to reflect on what they did for us, all I will say is make the most of every day and try to enjoy it as if it were your last, I am off to have a Daddy Day!!!!
