Ballakelly Farm makes online shopping easier

Ballakelly Farm has launched a new custom-built website to enable customers to more easily purchase Ballakelly Farm meat, as well to learn more about our distinctive way of ethical and sustainable farming. The launch of the website coincides with a very exciting period of change at the farm, as we think about the future and the kind of business we want to be.

The Covid-19 pandemic has, of course, meant changes in how all of us live our lives. This has been no different on the farm, where prolonged periods of lockdown have seen us work in new and unusual ways, with face masks, hand sanitiser in the tractor cabs, and socially distanced operations.

During this time of immense change, we’ve been looking to the horizon at how we farm, how we interact with customers, and the evolving needs of customers and the business as we come out of the darkest days of the pandemic.

We’ve also witnessed a new interest in provenance and traceability of meat, and in high standard farming and food provision with a local seal of approval.

So, it seemed like the perfect time to give our online presence a facelift, and make things more polished. The new site aims to provide a seamless experience for new and regular customers alike to learn about our farming ethos, our products, life at Ballakelly, and cooking with Ballakelly produce. In addition to a streamlined Shop with more helpful information on the products, and how they are farmed, you can now also more easily pay with credit/debit card payment, and also bitcoin.

We’ve also sought to provide a greater depth and breadth of information about the commitments behind what we do. We hope that everyone reads our detailed pledge to our animals, our customers and our planet, which is and remains the bedrock of our work.

Rachel Teare, farmer’s wife, says: “We are so excited to be launching our new online shop and website, after lots of planning and many conversations about how we want to serve customers better as Ballakelly grows and matures.

We work every day with a simple mission, which is to bring people to our ‘farm to fork’ vision of 100% Manx, sustainable, responsible produce. We believe farmers should be able to take ownership of the work they do and the goods they provide, and our new web presence is another step towards making truly local, quality meat a daily reality for every family.
